Manage Your Code Snippets with Snippely

Hello there… just wanted to reach out to all the thousands of people that subscribe to my blog…. just kidding. But I’m serious about the title of the entry, a little tool for the Adobe AIR application called Snippely (John Dyer, this one’s for you…). It’s a pretty neat little software addition, and could make saving and organizing code snippets your favorite pastime. Personally, I’ve been wondering how I could organize all the different code snippets that I have, and do it in a way that wouldn’t be stressful or take up too much time.

In the past, whenever I run across a code snippet that I like, I would always just add it to my del.icio.us list of bookmarks for future reference. But the idea of having to always try and find exactly where that code snippet is among the many hundreds of bookmarks that I have isn’t ideal. That’s where this little tool comes in.

If you’re like me, and have been looking for a way to efficiently organize code snippets without taking much time to find them, check out Snippely.

I just downloaded that am planning on playing around with it. It’s seems like an obvious idea, but I’ve never seen anything like that. I usually just makes notes or use books, and end up going through it all again if it’s been awhile since I touched the code. Snippely will probably come in handy.

BTW, I noticed a couple of articles regarding AIR applications. Are you planning on doing anything with AIR yourself?

Yes, Snippely has become an extremely handy little tool for me staying organized with code and all of that.

I’m not planning on doing anything with AIR. I just really like some of the applications they are coming out with on that platform. Very cool stuff…

Spencer, do you know any way of backup and restore your Snippely archive od code snippets? What are you gonna do in case that you need to reinstall your OS or just move your snippets onto another computer? I’ve seen many people on the net writing about Snippely, but nobody’s saying nothing about this. Thanks!

@andrija I currently don’t know of a way to save your code snippets that you’ve entered into Snippely. It seems like a great suggestion for their development team to implement…really a “no-brainer.” If you can’t somehow save your precious code snippets that you’ve spent so much time on collecting and organizing, then what good is it for those of us who do change computers every now and then, or lose data from time to time.

If I had to pay for this software, I probably wouldn’t buy it if it didn’t have this addition to their software. Great recommendation for the Snippely development team!
